Safety on Boop

Safety is designed into the mechanic, not bolted on afterwards. Because Boops are anonymous until mutual, the person you reach out to does not learn who sent it unless they also add and Boop you back. Add only people you actually know.

Block, report, and account integrity

Block works before and after a match and is designed to persist across account recreation where possible, using one-way phone hashes, so a blocked person is much less likely to return under a new account and reach you. Reporting is available in-app from any mutual card or chat. Chats are text-only with server-side link handling and are deleted after seven days. There are no read receipts, typing indicators, online status, public metrics, algorithmic matching, or stranger interaction.

If something feels off

You can clear the chat, end the connection, or report the person from inside the app. Account deletion is designed to remove your profile, picks, sent boops, mutual records, push subscriptions, and hashed phone data where possible. Some safety-related records, such as blocks and abuse reports, may be retained to help prevent abuse.

Boop is live as an early MVP. It is free to use, Sweden-first, 18+, and built as a web app you can install on iPhone (Add to Home Screen via Safari) and Android (Chrome install prompt). The core Boop loop stays free: send an anonymous Boop, reveal only if it is mutual, and chat when it becomes mutual. No public search. No people-you-may-know feed. No stranger browsing. You choose who to add to your private list.
