Boop · Private mutual intent for people you already know

Boop is a private mutual-intent app for people you already know. It is for the moment when you think about someone but do not know if making the first move would be welcome: an old friend, family, a former coworker, a crush, an ex, or the person you keep almost texting. Reconnection is one use case, not the whole category. Boop helps you find out if the thought is mutual, without exposing the first move. Anonymous until mutual. Nothing happens unless it is mutual.

How Boop works

You add someone you already know to your private list, manually by phone number or by picking from your contacts. You send them a Boop. They receive a quiet, anonymous nudge that someone is thinking about them, but not who. If they never add you back, nothing happens. If they independently add you and Boop you too, it becomes mutual. Names reveal at the same instant on both screens and a private chat opens.

Privacy and consent

You choose who to add. Boop does not automatically upload your address book. We do not store your raw phone number in app tables. It is converted into a one-way hash used for matching. Boops expire after 24 hours. Chats are text-only and disappear after seven days. No public search, no swiping, no people-you-may-know feed, no read receipts, no typing indicators, no public metrics, no stranger interaction.

Boop is live as an early MVP. It is free to use, Sweden-first, 18+, and built as a web app you can install on iPhone (Add to Home Screen via Safari) and Android (Chrome install prompt). The core Boop loop stays free: send an anonymous Boop, reveal only if it is mutual, and chat when it becomes mutual. No public search. No people-you-may-know feed. No stranger browsing. You choose who to add to your private list.
